Is there a better platform than OnlyFans?

There's no platform that's better across the board. Fees sit at roughly 20% almost everywhere, so something else decides: where your fans are, how they pay, and which rules apply to your content.

OnlyFans has the most paying fans. In the 2025 financial year, fans spent about $7.8 billion there, of which $6.2 billion went to creators 1. No alternative publishes comparably audited figures. At the same time, OnlyFans sends you very few new fans; you have to bring your own reach. How to do that is covered in Which traffic source suits you?.

An alternative can make sense if your fans would rather pay in euros or with PayPal, if you work with AI content, or if a platform offers better discoverability for your niche.

How do OnlyFans alternatives compare?

The table shows what we could source and marks what's still open. Platforms change their terms, so check the figures on each website before you decide.

What stands out biggest fan base, little discovery on the platform seen as stronger on discoverability geared toward AI creators popular in France, fee tiered by content type geared toward German-speaking fans, euros and local payment methods –

How to read it: self-reported figures like "200,000+ creators" are marketing, not audited numbers. OnlyFans' accounts count all accounts that haven't been deleted, not just active ones.

Which countries each platform accepts creators from can change and isn't stated consistently. If you live in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, check the sign-up and verification requirements for your country on the platform itself before you build anything there.

Why isn't the fee the most important difference?

Because fees barely differ, while fan bases differ by orders of magnitude. Five percentage points more on a platform with no fans earn you less than 80% on a platform where your fans already have an account.

Here's the math: you make $1,000 a month on OnlyFans and keep $800. If you move to a platform that pays 85%, you'd need at least $941 in revenue there to keep the same amount. If you lose more than about 6% of your paying fans in the move, you're worse off. And fans don't just follow you: every one of them has to sign up again and re-enter their payment details.

Also check what the fee applies to. For MYM, there's a note that bank fees are deducted before the creator's share 11. And on dollar platforms, currency conversion and transfers cost you extra, because you live in a euro or Swiss franc country 2.

Fansly vs. OnlyFans: what's the difference?

Fansly is reported to keep the same 20% as OnlyFans 3, but it's seen as better for being discovered through its feed and tags. What's documented are its payout minimums: $50 by SEPA bank transfer, $20 via Paxum or Cosmo, and $100 by SWIFT or crypto 8.

So the choice between the two comes down to reach rather than fees. OnlyFans has the far bigger paying audience 1; Fansly may help more if your fans need to find you on the platform itself.

Who is Fanvue for?

Fanvue is mainly interesting for creators who work with AI content or want a slightly higher share in their first month. According to its homepage, you keep 85% in the first month and 80% after that 4.

Some blogs say Fanvue takes only 15% for the first twelve months. That's not what its homepage says; it only mentions the first month.

Fanvue is geared toward AI creators. According to an industry blog, AI accounts there can have up to 15 linked accounts 9. OnlyFans, by contrast, requires AI content to be labeled and, according to its annual accounts, doesn't allow creator profiles that are entirely AI-generated 1.

What about MYM?

MYM is a French platform. In 2021, a co-founder put its commission at 25% on subscriptions and 20% on private content 7. Whether that still applies is unclear. According to a German agency, MYM is also relevant for German-speaking accounts because of cross-promotion networks 12; that's a vendor claim.

What speaks for Maloum if you live in Germany, Austria or Switzerland?

For Maloum: euros, payment methods that are common in German-speaking countries, and a focus on that market. According to its website, fans can pay with PayPal, credit card, Klarna/SOFORT or Apple Pay 5. PayPal in particular is a lower hurdle than a credit card for many fans in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Maloum is often called a "German OnlyFans alternative". That's not accurate: the operator is neolime GmbH, based in Vienna 5. But the platform clearly targets Germany, Austria and Switzerland 6.

Against it: size. Maloum itself states "50,000+ creators" 5; there are no independent figures on fans or revenue. Its current website doesn't state the creator share. A 2023 report mentions 80% 6. There's also a referral program paying 5% of the earnings of creators you refer 5.

Our take: Maloum can be interesting as a second platform for German-speaking fans who don't want to pay by credit card. As your only platform, it's too small for most creators, and it has little to offer an English-speaking audience.

What about 4based?

4based is listed in industry sources as a German-language platform. We couldn't find reliable information on its fees, payouts or size. Before you sign up, read its terms and payout conditions.

Is it worth using several platforms at once?

Sometimes, but only once one platform is working. Several platforms spread the risk if an account gets banned or the rules change. But they also cost more time: more profiles, more chats, more bookkeeping.

Before you start a second platform, work out:

What should you check before switching?

Check these points in writing before you switch:

  1. How big is your share, and what is it calculated on?
  2. Which currency are you billed and paid in?
  3. How do fans pay, and does that fit your audience?
  4. What's the minimum payout, how long does a payout take, and is there a period during which earnings are held?
  5. Where is the platform based, and which law applies?
  6. Which rules apply to AI content and to content with other people in it?
  7. Can you take your fans with you? According to industry reports, OnlyFans doesn't offer an export of subscriber data.
  8. Does the platform accept creators who live in Germany, Austria or Switzerland?

Frequently asked questions

All answers as a list
Which OnlyFans alternative is German?

Maloum is often described that way, but it's based in Vienna and is an Austrian platform. 4based is listed as a German-language platform; we haven't been able to confirm where it's based.

Where will I earn the most?

Where your paying fans are. Fees barely differ. A few extra percentage points rarely make up for a smaller fan base.

Does Fanvue really pay 85%?

According to its own homepage, yes, in the first month; after that it's 80%. We couldn't find claims of 85% for twelve months on its website.

Can I use OnlyFans and Fansly at the same time?

Technically yes, as long as the terms of both platforms and your agency contract don't say otherwise. Expect double the work on content, chat and bookkeeping. The same applies to any other combination, such as OnlyFans and Maloum.

What's next

The platform is only one part of the decision. What matters more is whether reach, chat and pricing work together. If you want to know whether working with maevia makes sense for you, you can apply now.
