Is Reddit worth it for OnlyFans creators?
Reddit is worth it if you have a clearly recognisable niche and are willing to put regular time into rules and upkeep. Users go there looking for specific looks, styles or themes. That is why several agencies describe Reddit as a channel with high purchase intent 12.
There is an opposing view too: one agency calls Reddit "de facto dead" for scaling, because it is too much work, oversaturated and marked by constant bans 3. Both assessments come from providers with their own interests.
Our view: Reddit suits creators with a niche and anyone whose photos work on their own. It suits you less if you mainly win people over through personality, voice and conversation. Then other channels are often better; see Which traffic source fits you?.
What rules apply to OnlyFans promotion on Reddit?
Reddit has two layers of rules: the rules for the whole platform and the rules of each individual community (subreddit). If you only know the first layer, your posts will still get removed constantly.
Platform-wide, according to one agency's summary 1:
- Explicit content is allowed if it comes from adults, was created with consent, is marked NSFW and is posted in a suitable community.
- Passing off someone else's content as your own is banned.
- Spam is detected by behaviour: identical mass posts, constant repetition, accounts that only post links.
- Manipulating votes with multiple accounts is banned.
Per subreddit, the moderators set their own rules 1. Typical ones are:
- a minimum amount of karma (Reddit's points system for posts and comments),
- a minimum account age,
- photo verification,
- fixed formats for titles and flair (the small category labels on posts),
- waiting periods between posts, often one a day or one a week,
- rules on links, often only allowed on your profile and in many large communities not at all.
Many removals happen automatically through a bot (AutoModerator). There is usually no appeal against those, because no human made the decision 1.
On top of that there is an invisible trust score, the Contributor Quality Score. It is meant to filter out posts from new or suspicious accounts. There is no official documentation, and the exact thresholds are unknown 4.
How does subreddit verification work?
Verification usually means sending the moderators a photo of yourself holding a handwritten note with your username and the date. That proves the content really is yours.
Important: verification only counts for the one community where you do it 1. For every further community, you verify again if it asks for it.
For your safety:
- Check what is visible in the background of the photo. No mail, no windows with a recognisable view, no documents.
- Remove metadata such as the location from the image file before you send it.
- If a community's verification method makes you uncomfortable, ask the moderators beforehand which alternatives they accept. Each community decides this itself.

What does Reddit's EU age check change?
Reddit asks some users to prove their age before they can see NSFW content, which can make part of your audience see your posts later or not at all.
According to reports, since 24 June 2026, users in the EU whom Reddit believes to be minors have had to confirm their age before seeing NSFW content. The check reportedly runs through an Apple account or by selfie or ID 59.
What this means for you is still open. It is conceivable that part of your European audience, including fans in Germany and Austria, sees NSFW content less often or later, because not everyone completes the check. That is a logical inference, not a measured figure. For the large English-speaking communities, most of whose users live outside the EU, the effect is likely to be smaller.
How do you find the right subreddits?
You find the right subreddits by watching similar creators and rating every community against fixed criteria before you post there. A ready-made list cannot replace that, because rules change and communities get closed or change moderators.
So we deliberately name no communities here. Rate a community yourself:
| Criterion | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Fit | Do creators with a similar look, style or theme post there? Do users react positively to such posts? |
| Activity | How many new posts are there per day, and do they get comments and upvotes? A large member count without activity brings nothing. |
| Rules | Do the sidebar and wiki clearly say what is allowed? Unclear rules lead to arbitrary removals. |
| Verification | Is it required? How does it work? Which proof does it accept? |
| Links | Are links allowed in the post, in a comment or only on your profile? |
| Waiting periods | How often may you post? Does that fit your rhythm? |
| Moderation | Do moderators answer questions? Are there signs of abuse, such as demands for free content? |
| Attitude to creators | Is promotion welcome or merely tolerated? Some communities are explicitly against promo. |
One vendor recommends watching 20 to 40 communities at first and actively using 8 to 15 of them 2. That is experience, not a rule. Better to start with a few you really know.
Which subreddits work for creators living in Germany, Austria or Switzerland?
Mostly the large English-speaking ones, because that is where the audience is. One vendor advises creators in smaller European markets to use English-speaking communities, because local ones are often not very active 6. A German vendor writes that German-speaking communities exist and are smaller and less competitive, but names none 2; we could not verify any by name with their current rules either.
On timing: one German vendor suggests 8 to 11 pm for German-speaking communities and the night, German time, for the big English-speaking communities, because most of their users are in other time zones 2. These are experience values. Your own numbers after a few weeks are more reliable.
Think about your OnlyFans profile too: if fans arrive through English-speaking communities, your profile and chat should reflect that.
How do you start without getting banned straight away?
By behaving like a normal member first and only then promoting. In practice:
- Create a separate account for work. Not your personal account, and none that points to your real name.
- Comment first, then post. Vendors recommend one to two weeks of genuine participation before the first promo post 6. The karma targets they name vary widely, from 50 to over 1,000 depending on the source 26. What counts are the rules of the communities where you want to post.
- Read every community's rules. Sidebar, wiki, pinned posts. Every time, before you post there for the first time.
- Don't post the same thing everywhere. Identical mass posts are a spam signal 1. Vary images and titles.
- Only post links where they are allowed. Often on your profile, sometimes in a comment, rarely in the post.
- Use watermarks. Reddit content often gets redistributed. What to do if it happens is in the leak emergency plan.
Expect to need patience. One vendor names six to eight weeks until stable results and three to six months until a reliable channel 6.
Why do creators get banned on Reddit?
Mostly because of avoidable mistakes, not because of the content. According to one agency, the most common reasons are 1:
- posting too early, with an account that is too young or has too little karma,
- not reading the community's rules,
- ignoring waiting periods between posts,
- identical posts in many communities at the same time,
- links in the wrong place.
If you get banned from a community, message the moderators politely and factually. A ban in one community does not automatically affect all of Reddit. A platform-wide ban is more serious.
What should you never do on Reddit?
No bought or "aged" accounts, no vote boosting, no networks of multiple accounts, no proxies to get around bans. Some vendors recommend exactly that 7. It breaks Reddit's rules, and if it comes out you lose not just a post but your entire Reddit presence.
There is a practical reason too: with manipulated numbers you never know whether your content really works. You end up optimising for noise instead of genuine interest.
How do you measure whether Reddit pays off for you?
With a dedicated tracking link for Reddit and a fixed review date. After four to eight weeks, look at how many paying fans came through that link and what they spent.
The figures doing the rounds are no yardstick. One agency names 8 to 15% from click to subscription and about $88 revenue per fan, without disclosing its method 8. A software vendor names 2 to 25% depending on the type of community 6. These are vendor figures, not something to take as an expectation. All answers as a list
Is OnlyFans promotion allowed on Reddit?
Yes, in principle. Content has to be marked NSFW and posted in a suitable community. Whether and how you may promote is decided by each community itself.
How much karma do I need?
Each community sets that. The figures in vendor guides range from a few dozen to over a thousand points. Read the rules of the communities where you want to post.
Do I have to show my face for verification?
That depends on the community. Some require it, others accept other proof. If in doubt, ask the moderators beforehand.
Are there German-speaking subreddits for creators?
According to vendors, yes, but they are considered small. We have not been able to verify specific names with their current rules. Rate every community yourself using the criteria above.
Can I use my personal Reddit account?
We advise against it. A separate account protects your privacy and keeps hobby and work cleanly apart.
