What is the welcome message on OnlyFans?

The welcome message is an automatic message OnlyFans sends to every new subscriber as soon as they subscribe. According to vendor guides, you set it up in your settings under "Subscription"; it can be up to 1,000 characters long and include media 1.

The message is static: every new fan gets the same text. If you want to vary greetings, for example by where a fan came from, you need external tools 1. Check first whether such tools are allowed under the current OnlyFans terms; more on that in The new OnlyFans Terms of Service from November 1, 2026. To start with, the built-in feature is all you need.

Why do the first 48 hours count?

Because many fans are most active right after they subscribe. The best-known figure: an analysis by the traffic vendor OnlyGuider/OnlyTraffic of about 1 million subscribers found 83% of payments in the first 48 hours after a subscription started 2.

Read that number in context:

Still, the direction matches what many creators report and what we described in What is PPV on OnlyFans?: the first impression and the first conversations decide a lot. Someone who just subscribed is curious. Someone who hears nothing for two days often is not anymore.

One tool vendor also claims that a low-priced offer in the welcome (a "welcome PPV" at $5 to $10) gets 4 to 6% of new subscribers to buy 1. That too is a vendor figure with no disclosed method. Test it against your own statistics instead.

There is something else that matters: the first 48 hours shape not only revenue but also expectations. Whatever you promise in your welcome becomes the standard you are measured against.

What should a good OnlyFans welcome message say?

In short: who you are, what fans can expect and what the next step is. Agencies and tool vendors largely agree on the building blocks 13:

  1. A short greeting in your tone, one or two sentences.
  2. What you offer: your themes, without listing every detail.
  3. Rhythm: how often you post and when you usually reply.
  4. How fans can reach you: messages, requests, tips, customs.
  5. Boundaries: what you do not offer, for example no meetups, no contact details outside the platform.
  6. A next step: a question, a pointer to a pinned post, or an offer.

Keep it short. A welcome that can be read on a phone without scrolling usually feels more personal than a long text.

What should you leave out?

Anything that misleads fans or puts them under pressure. That includes:

This is not only a question of attitude. In the US, OnlyFans agencies were sued over deceptive chats, as we describe in Who is texting your fans?. And some fans spend more than is good for them. Pressure in the very first message hits exactly those people first.

Honesty also costs you nothing: fans who know what to expect are less often disappointed.

Should your welcome message include an offer?

It can, but it does not have to. Many creators attach locked content at a small price; others welcome fans without an offer and only follow up later. Both are fine, as long as it is clear what the fan gets and the price fits the rest of your pricing. How to build a consistent price ladder is covered in OnlyFans pricing.

A simple rule: the offer in your welcome should be an honest introduction, not a trap. Describe what is in it, and do not create pressure with deadlines that do not exist.

Which templates can you use? 20 OnlyFans message examples to adapt

The following 20 templates cover welcomes, follow-ups, offers and mass messages, boundaries and goodbyes. They are deliberately short and neutral. Replace the square brackets with your details. Read them out loud: if a line does not sound like you, rewrite it.

Welcome messages

1. Short and friendly

Hey, so glad you're here. I'm [name]. You'll find [theme 1] and [theme 2] on my page, and new posts usually go up [rhythm]. Tell me what brought you here.

2. With rhythm and reply times

Welcome! I post [rhythm] and usually read messages [time window]. If I take a little longer to reply, it's not about you.

3. With boundaries

Hi and welcome. Quick heads-up: I don't do meetups or contact outside OnlyFans. Everything else is right here in the feed and in messages. Looking forward to chatting.

4. Pointing to a pinned post

Thanks for subscribing. There's a pinned post at the top of my profile that shows you what to expect here. Any questions, just message me.

5. With an offer, no pressure

Welcome. If you'd like a first taste: attached is [short, honest description] for [price]. No pressure at all, the feed is all yours either way.

6. When a team helps

Hey, welcome. So you get a reply quickly, a small team helps me with messages. The content and the rules come from me. Tell me what you're into.

Follow-ups in the first two days

7. After one day

Hey, you joined yesterday. Had a chance to look around yet? If there's something specific you'd like to see, let me know.

8. A question instead of a sale

I'm always curious what brings people here. What do you like more: [option A] or [option B]?

9. Pointing to custom requests

Quick note: I do take custom requests, within my boundaries. If you have an idea, send it over and I'll tell you honestly whether it works for me and what it costs.

Offers and mass messages

10. New content

New in the feed: [short description]. I had a lot of fun shooting this one. Take a look if you like.

11. Locked content, clearly described

Attached: [type of content], [length or number of pieces], for [price]. What you see is what you get.

12. A real promotion with a real end date

Until [date], [offer]. After that, it goes back to the regular price.

13. Thanks after a purchase

Thank you. I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to tell me honestly what you thought.

14. Thanks for a tip

Thank you for the tip, that genuinely made my day. Have a great [day of the week].

Boundaries and availability

15. A friendly no

Thanks for asking. That's not something I offer. If you like, take a look at [alternative].

16. When someone pushes or crosses a line

I can tell we have different expectations here. This is a firm boundary for me. If it continues, I'll end the chat.

17. Break or vacation

Quick update: I'm offline from [date] to [date]. Posts will keep going up, and I'll answer messages when I'm back.

18. Availability

I usually read messages [time window]. I'm not always around in the evenings or on weekends, but I will get back to you.

Renewals and goodbyes

19. Thanks for sticking around

You've been here for [time period] now. Thank you for that. Is there anything you'd like to see more of?

20. When someone turns off auto-renew

I saw your subscription ends soon. Totally okay. If you're up for it, tell me what was missing. It really helps me.

How do you make the templates your own?

By translating them into your own way of speaking. A few pointers:

Who should write the messages?

Ideally you, or people who know your rules. Many creators hand fan communication to a team because messages take a lot of time. In that case, your tone, boundaries and no-gos should be written down, and you should be able to read along at any time. At maevia, fan messages are written by real people only, never by AI. How this works transparently is explained in Who is texting your fans? and on our chatting service page.

Frequently asked questions

All answers as a list
How long should a welcome message be?

As short as possible, as long as necessary. Three to five sentences are usually enough. According to vendor guides, the technical limit is 1,000 characters 1.

Should I send a photo or video with the welcome?

You can, free or locked. A short, free welcome photo feels personal. Locked content should be clearly described so nobody ends up disappointed.

How often should I change my welcome message?

Whenever something changes, such as your rhythm, your prices or your boundaries. Otherwise it is enough to check it against your statistics every few months.

Can I mention other platforms in my welcome?

Be careful. OnlyFans has rules about what is allowed in messages. Sharing contact details outside the platform is also rarely a good idea for your own safety.

Isn't an automatic message impersonal?

Only if it sounds that way. Fans usually know the first message is automatic. What makes it personal is your tone and the conversations that follow.

Your first impression can be an honest one

A good welcome message does not have to sell at any cost. It should show who you are and what fans can count on with you. That builds trust, and trust lasts longer than any trick. More on getting started in How to start an OnlyFans without followers.
